About South West

Since 1882, South West Manchester Cricket Club has been an independant sports and social club tucked away at the end of Ellesmere Road in Chorlton.

South West Today

The modern day clubhouse has a large comfortable bar with drinks at very competitive prices. We also have a wide screen TV broadcasting football, cricket and many other live sports. We have a monthly quiz night and have other evenings such as Karaoke and race nights. Check the events menu to see what is happening at the club this month.

In summer, very pleasant afternoons can be spent in the handsome grounds watching cricket, having a barbecue or just socialising in the sun with friends.

Real AlesReal Ales

More and more people at the Club are drinking Real Ale and we really have been spoilt with some of the award winning ales that have guested at the club. Supporting our local breweries is something we like to do at South West - Hornbeam of Denton, Dunham Massey, Boggart Hole Clough, Beartown and Allgates of Wigan are just a few of the breweries we've featured. If you've got a favourite tipple let us know, we may just give it a try.

There's always a guest ale on at the club as well as Hydes Original. With plans to feature a 2nd guest this year and who know, maybe even a real ale festival as interest grows, South West is rapidly becoming an important plater in the real ale circuit in Chorlton. Just imagine a sunny Saturday afternoon, watching the cricket, sipping a pint of real ale with a nice big creamy head - we'll see you there.

In 2010 South West was awarded the prestigious "Cask Marque" status. Cask Marque is a voluntary accreditation scheme that allows publicans to display a special symbol indicating that their cask ale is of good quality, as judged by a series of surprise inspections.
